About the Role

The Production Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership, planning and direction to the manufacturing division. This individual serves as the liaison between operations (sales and project management) and the manufacturing group to ensure the highest efficiency of the plant and the highest of product are achieved. The Production Manager works directly with the sales team, install operations and project management in scheduling production to correlate with project and customer deadlines. The Production Managers plan, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the operations, equipment, consumables, and individuals within the manufacturing plant.

  • Supervise plant staff (welders, welder helpers, machinists, laborer’s, loader operators) to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production procedures

  • Oversee shop staff complement and perform recruitment, development, retention, and terminations of staff as required

  • Proactively forecast human resource needs to accurately reflect scheduling and keep production deadlines

  • Manage the production monitoring systems, schedule, and program that accurately reflects day to day operations to ensure schedule is followed to meet or exceed project and customer deadlines

  • Have a keen eye for quality, quality management, and quality management systems, adhering to and championing our ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing facility

  • Continually optimize manufacturing strategies, processes, and resources to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, the customers experience and the company’s profitability

  • Accurately control material inventory and forecast material demand

  • Work with senior management to continually advance the organization


  • 10+ years of experience in a heavy steel fabricating / manufacturing industry

  • Proven working knowledge of Quality Management Systems

  • 5+ years reporting experience: production and quality

  • 10+ years of proven management and leadership experience to 40+ individuals

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365

  • Post-secondary education in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering technology considered an asset

  • Journeyman welding certificate or knowledge of CWB 47.1 and CSA W59

  • Knowledge in welding FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW processes

  • Knowledge of CNC plate and pipe plasma cutting equipment, operations, and maintenance

  • Time management understanding / experience related to heavy manufacturing
